Q&A with Joel Leonoff, Optimal Payments
consumers to make payments efficiently. We’re seeing more transactions initiated on mobile phones than ever before, and we recently acquired a Montreal-based mobile payments company called FANS to support our growth in
this area. As we build multichannel solutions, our merchants are looking for us to bring the right technology to the table. We’ve integrated bit- coin into NETELLER, but the jury is still out on bitcoin. I don’t know that it’s going to gain mass acceptance.
One thing I do know is that cloud- based computing has changed the game. It gives you the ability to proliferate technology and move it to the mobile space. No technology company can ignore the cloud.
Paybefore: What’s your next move?
JL: We’re a bold company.
The Skrill deal is an indication
of our ability, desire and focus on moving the company forward,
providing a variety of solutions for consumers and merchants and making a real mark in the payments landscape. We’ll con- tinue with our bold philosophy— we’re not done yet. We are becoming more and more rele- vant in the industries we process payments for and the payments community, in general. We’ve become a trusted partner in
the gaming space and look to build new relationships in new communities.
