Even when banks and merchants use the highest levels of security for m-payments, there are many other areas that pose risks, such as “change events” in consumers’ use of mobile devices, Dancu says. Hundreds of di erent change events may occur in the mobile
environment, and routine actions such as when a consumer changes devices, switches to a new wireless carrier, swaps a SIM card or ports existing services to a new mobile number, each create possible cracks in the security armor that fraudsters could exploit.
