ICE (International Currency Exchange) asked holidaymakers what they wanted in a travel card. Their response: simplicity and transpar-
ency, with as few fees as possible. The ICE Travellers Cashcard, a chip-and-PIN MasterCard available in euro, U.S. dollar and pound sterling varieties, represents exactly that: It’s free to obtain and free to use, when topping up with an initial £700 (US$1,188) or more. And, even when the card isn’t being used, it’s free, because there’s no inactivity or maintenance fee.
The ICE Travellers Cashcard can relieve holiday headaches by eliminating problems, like POS exchange rates and withdrawal fees, sometimes encountered when using payment cards in foreign countries. For example, with the ICE Euro Travellers Cashcard, if the consumer loads €500,
the consumer can spend €500. Cardholders can monitor their balances on the Website (www. iceplc.com), via SMS, at an ATM or by calling the customer service team.
The card is available in the U.K. and is primarily geared toward families traveling through the EU or to the U.S., but the ICE Sterling Travellers Cashcard can be used at millions of locations worldwide that accept MasterCard.
Extra cards are available, too. A complimentary backup card is available if the primary card is lost or stolen. And, two additional cards are available for family members.
If holidaymakers return from their trip with funds on their card, ICE will buy back the currency commission-free at the same exchange rate as when the card was loaded, provided it’s within 7 days of the last top-up. All that’s left is to enjoy the holiday photos and videos.
